This first Cape Town developer meetup landed me a job offer (which I respectfully declined) and some fast friends in the developer community. The next meetup is planned for 26 30 May 2011, and it's going to dwarf the first one.
Ths First Meetup (Casa Restaurant)
What Went Right
- Ten developers responded within two weeks.
- Great lunch with the first-time attendees. Talked some code. Got to know each other. Good experience all-round.
What Went Wrong
- I chose a venue too far from the CBD.
- I chose a Saturday. Many developers prefer to spend weekends with their families.
- When:
Thursday, 26 Monday, 30 May at 6pm, just in time for after-work drinks.
- Where: Neighbourhood, 163 Long Street, in the heart of Cape Town.
- Will: Rock. RSVP so I can reserve enough tables.
